Our host Region Seefeld

CEO Elias Walser

For the Seefeld region, the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027 represent another significant milestone in a long tradition of major international sporting events. For decades, Seefeld has been synonymous with Nordic sports and, in particular, world-class cross-country skiing. Following the Winter Olympics and the Nordic World Championships, the Deaflympics mark yet another international highlight in this success story.

The region is particularly looking forward to welcoming athletes from all over the world once again. Such events not only deliver sporting excellence but also have lasting benefits for the region. Many athletes, families and friends discover Seefeld for the first time through sporting events and return later as visitors.

A key priority is to prepare the entire region for the needs of deaf people. Together with hotels, restaurants, shops and other partners, targeted measures will be implemented to raise awareness and improve engagement with the Deaf community. The aim is to ensure that all guests enjoy a stay that is as accessible and pleasant as possible.

At the same time, the Deaflympics also offer a valuable learning opportunity for Seefeld itself. Organising such an event brings new perspectives and inspiration for future events. The return of the Deaflympics, which were last held in Seefeld in 1949, underlines the special significance of these Games.
