About the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027
The Winter Deaflympics 2027 are celebrating a special comeback: for the first time in almost 80 years, the world’s most important winter sports event for deaf athletes is returning to its historic origins. In January 2027, Innsbruck and Seefeld will become the stage for top sporting performances, active inclusion and international encounters.
The Organizations behind the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027
ICSD
The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), which has successfully been functioning since 1924 and which is operating a highly organized system of sports activities solely aimed for Deaf people. The ICSD is an independent and self-regulated international sports organisation and is not involved with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Since 1955 the IOC has recognized the ICSD as an International Federation with the Olympic standing. The Deaflympics, under the patronage of the IOC, are the second oldest international multi-sporting event in the world.
ÖGSV
The ÖGSV (Austrian Deaf Sport Association) was founded in 1931 and, with 12 deaf sports clubs, is the sports network for deaf people and people with hearing impairments in Austria. The ÖGSV is also represented internationally in 9 of 17 sports. Around 25 top athletes are prepared for participation in international sporting events such as European and World Championships and the DEAFLYMPICS.

The Gehörlosensport Events GmbH is the official organizing entity of the Winter Deaflympics 2027 and future deaf sports events in Austria, responsible for the planning, financing, and execution of the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027.
