The Winter Deaflympics are the largest international winter sports event for deaf athletes. They take place every four years and are organised by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD).

The 21st Winter Deaflympics will take place from 15 to 24 January 2027 in Innsbruck – Seefeld -Tirol.
Have the Winter Deaflympics ever been held in Austria?
Yes. The 21st Winter Deaflympics will return to their origins. The first Winter Deaflympics took place in Seefeld, Tirol, in 1949.
Who is organising the 21st Winter Deaflympics in 2027?
The Austrian Deaf Sports Association (ÖGSV) and the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) are organising the 21st Winter Deaflympics in 2027.
Who can participate in the Winter Deaflympics?
Only athletes who are members of a national deaf sports association affiliated with the ICSD can participate in the 21st Winter Deaflympics in 2027.

Where will the athletes and teams be accommodated?
The delegations will be accommodated in selected hotels in Innsbruck and Seefeld, which are located close to the competition venues and transport hubs.
Are there discounted offers for fellow travellers, family, friends, etc.?
There will be a Family & Friends Package; further information will be published shortly.
Which airport is closest?
Innsbruck Airport (INN) is the closest. Munich (MUC) and Vienna (VIE) are also convenient alternatives.
How do you get from Innsbruck to Seefeld?
Innsbruck and Seefeld can be easily reached in around 25 minutes by public transport or by car.
Competitions & Events
Which sports are included?
Seven sports are part of the 2027 Winter Deaflympics: alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, curling, ice hockey, futsal and chess.
Will spectators be allowed at all venues?
Yes! Fans are very welcome!
Will there be an admission fee?
No! All events are free of charge for spectators.
Will the events be broadcast live?
Yes, selected competitions and ceremonies will be broadcast online.
Will there be an opening and closing ceremony?

Accessibility
Will there be sign language interpreters?
Yes, interpreters for international sign language and Austrian sign language will be available at important locations.
Are all events accessible to wheelchair users?
