A quick look back

The official logo of the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027 has been revealed!

The Deaflympics 2027 – organizationally anchored in Tirol, need the support of Austria and the deaf community, for a sporting event that has an impact far beyond medals. The official logo of the games also bears a visible sign of this idea.

Das offizielle Logo der Winterdeaflympics 2027.

The logo exemplifies the ambition of the Winter Deaflympics 2027:

to make visible what is often overlooked and build bridges between language, origin and sporting performance.

It combines central elements of the Deaflympics 2027 identity:

  • Sign language as a unifying means of communication and cultural feature of the international deaf community.
  • The gesture for „Austria“, two hands symbolizing an eagle, form the heart of the logo and stand for national identity and pride.
  • The choice of colors is inspired by ice and winter. Varying shades of blue reflect the season’s atmosphere and form a pattern reminiscent of snowflakes -symbolizing precision, diversity, and unity.

The venues of the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027

Maybe you’ve already seen it on Instagram – if not, here’s a short summary:

The venues for the Winter Deaflympics 2027 are now confirmed. Competitions will take place in both Innsbruck and Seefeld.

In Innsbruck, events will be hosted at the Olympiaworld venues, including the Olympic Hall, TIWAG Arena, Landessportcenter Tirol and the University Sports Institute (USI).

These locations are steeped in sporting history – Innsbruck previously hosted the Winter Olympics (1964 & 1976), the Youth Olympic Games in 2012 and the World Masters Games in 2020.

In Seefeld – where the first World Wintergames for Deaf were held in 1949 – athletes will compete in cross-country skiing at the WM Sports Facilities and in alpine skiing and snowboarding on the Gschwandtkopf.

A quick look ahead

Here’s what’s coming up next on the road to the Winter Deaflympics 2027.

Tokio Deaflympics 2025 are around the corner.

We’re not only in Tokyo to cheer on the world’s best Deaf athletes as they compete for medals – we’re also here to observe, learn, and take notes. The Summer Deaflympics offer valuable insights to help us shape an inclusive, well-organised and unforgettable event in 2027.

Creating a Mascott for the 21st Winter Deaflympics 2027.

Our goal is to bring the logo to life. In addition to its similarity to the logo, it is particularly important to us that the mascot has the arms free to communicate in sign language. We can not wait to see the final version of the mascot and show it to you all.

Planning a Community Campagne - from & for Deaf people.

What could be better than getting to know a region through its locals? We are planning to set up a community campaign in which deaf and hard-of-hearing people from Tirol present their favourite places.
