Our institutional partner Innsbruck
Innsbruck is proud to continue its long tradition of hosting outstanding winter sports events. We are delighted that the 2027 Winter Deaflympics are returning to Innsbruck-Seefeld – and sending a powerful message internationally that goes beyond sport. Innsbruck was already a host city back in the 1940s; this return once again underlines the city’s role as an alpine-urban sporting city with both tradition and a future.
At the same time, the event stands for the conscious use of resources. Instead of relying on new builds, Innsbruck is making use of existing, modern sports facilities and established infrastructure. This not only saves costs but also demonstrates how sustainable major events can be organised today.
Inclusion is, of course, a central focus. The Deaflympics offer an opportunity to further develop accessibility in Innsbruck and to expand existing measures in a targeted manner. After all, accessibility and participation are an ongoing process.
Above all, however, the Games stand for togetherness. The Deaflympics are more than just a major sporting event – they are a visible symbol of openness, respect and a vibrant sense of community. In 2027, Innsbruck aims to demonstrate how inclusion can be a natural part of everyday life and on the international stage.
